Howdy Pathfinders!

Wow! It really feels like spring is upon us! Here at the farm, the grass is starting to green up, and we’ve got our corn seed cleaned and ready for planting. We’re shaking the dust off our tents and getting ready for the farmers markets to open in spring.

We appreciate all your support for visiting during our ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration at the tasting room, and you turning in to watch our feature on Maryland Farm and Harvest on Maryland Public Television.

We’re happy to announce new spring cocktails coming to the menu at the tasting room, outdoor seating, and food trucks coming to the tasting room.

Food Trucks coming to the Tasting Room!

The weather is great this weekend and we’re excited to have our first food truck of March out to the tasting room Friday, March 15 from 4-7 pm. They’ll be parked out back serving up the best local BBQ and sides from Middletown.

Ribbon Cutting

It was a wet and chilly February, 22 when we had a ribbon cutting surrounded by friends and family at our new tasting room. Thanks for everyone who came out and celebrated with us all weekend. Did you make it and enjoy those moonshine blueberry muffins and handheld apple pie moonshine pies? You can get some baked goodies for yourself from Jen at Test of Time Bakery.

Updated Spring Menu!

Let’s hang out and do fun stuff. Check out our Events page on the Facebook.

Pathfinder Farm Distillery featured on Maryland Public Television

Maryland Public Television’s (MPT) original series Maryland Farm & Harvest featured Pathfinder Farm Distillery of Keedysville, MD during the series season 11 finale episode that premiered on Tuesday, March 5.

The show aired at 7pm on MPT-HD and online at mpt.org/livestream. Episodes were also available to view on the free PBS App and MPT’s online video player following their broadcast premiere. Encore broadcasts aired on MPT-HD on Thursdays at 11 pm and on Sundays at 6 am. Episodes also aired on MPT2/Create® on Fridays at 7:30 pm.

The popular weekly series took viewers on a journey across the Free State, telling engaging and enlightening stories about the farms, people, and technology required to sustain and grow agriculture in Maryland, the state’s number one commercial industry. Al Spoler, host of “The Local Buy” segments, visited the farm.

In addition to Pathfinder Farm, the March 5 season finale episode also featured Peace and Plenty Rural Historic District in Frederick County and Long Green Farms of Cecil County.

From MPT’s press release:

The Local Buy: Pathfinder Farm (Washington County). Segment host Al Spoler visited Pathfinder Farm Distillery in Keedysville, where veterans Nate and Natalie Kraft used heritage Bloody Butcher red corn and Appalachian Mountains spring water to distill whiskey and moonshine. The spirits and their ingredients were grown, harvested, mashed, distilled, and bottled on site in a small batch operation. During his visit, Al lent a hand in the distilling and mashing process before tasting a cocktail or two.

More than 16 million viewers had watched Maryland Farm & Harvest on MPT since its debut in 2013. The series had traveled to more than 450 farms, fisheries, and other agriculture-related locations during its first 10 seasons, covering every Maryland county, as well as Baltimore City and Washington, D.C.

The episode is available to stream from MPT’s website or the PBS App on your smart TV at: https://video.mpt.tv/video/episode-1113-00tyif/ The Pathfinder Farm Distillery segment starts at around the 18 minute mark.

The Maryland Department of Agriculture was MPT’s co-production partner for Maryland Farm & Harvest.
